About the development of the Latin American Conference
The regional meeting will follow the program. Its main means of diffusion will be the webpage, the blog, Twitter and Facebook. Registered journalists will be able to participate, following the sessions in real time. The event will not be open to the public.
The Conference will take place following to the roundtable format in order to favor the exchange of viewpoints and opinions. Delegates of the whole region’s investigative journalism related institutions have been invited to act as observers, as well as the region’s journalism programs’ directors.
A meeting between promoters and journalists’ organizations interested in the development of investigative journalism will take place during the conference in order to exchange ideas that lead to a better coordination and follow-up of the development of this kind of gathering, and to disseminate the calls for articles and selected cases of the Prize to the Best Journalistic Investigation of a Case of Corruption in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The second part of the Conference will consist of panel discussions with prominent experts who will exchange experiences according to a specific subject (see Conference Program), followed by a discussion of the methodologies used, the validity and quality of sources and the implications of investigative journalism.
The active online engagement of registered participants will be encouraged in order to define action lines for future activities or training programs for the region’s journalists based on their experiences and suggestions.
