General aim:

  1. Promote the development of investigative journalism in Latin America by holding the first Latin American Conference on Investigative Journalism.

  

Specific Objectives:

  1. Present the best experiences of investigative journalism in Latin America.
  2. Promote the exchange of viewpoints and information related to investigative journalism among Latin American journalists and their peers in the United States and Europe.
  3. Promote the creation of a professional network of communication and information professionals (journalists, university lecturers, producers of audiovisual material, researchers on communication, etc.) who are engaged in investigative journalism.
  4. Promote the debate on the new tools available for investigative journalism and their implications.
  5. Identify, in the course of the conference’s sessions, Latin American journalists’ needs in regard to training.
  6. Promote a culture of transparency, cooperating thus with the eradication of the culture of silence.
  7. Bestow public recognition on the best Latin American journalistic investigations of the last year.
