The 1,624 sites used for the disposal of toxic waste that the U.S. government never cleaned up. The Peruvian town where children are contaminated with lead. The day in which cigarettes became the mother of all mafias at the Triple Border. These are some of the journalistic investigations to be analyzed as an example of the kind of social issue that needs to be investigated in the continent. They are stories that involve political and corporative corruption, economic exploitation and environmental degradation and that, more often than not, go unnoticed.

How the most important case of corruption was investigated in Spain: the embezzlement, bribery, tax evasion and fraud of which Luis Roldán, former chief of the Spanish security forces during the government of Felipe Gonzales, was responsible. The discovery of his huge commissions, his Swiss accounts and his properties in Spain, Paris and the Caribbean.
